Updated: Nov 2, 2023

Is your business producing the results you want? Have you considered improving productivity in your business?

To achieve productivity in your business you need to optimize a few aspects. The following are five actionable steps to help you improve productivity so you can have the results you want.

1. Set clear goals and objectives:

Define SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable and Timebound) goals for your business and departments. Goals need to be aligned with your overall business strategy. In fact, clear objectives provide direction and motivation for your employees.

2. Prioritize task – HVAs (High Value Activities)

Identifying critical tasks that contribute directly to your goals is paramount. A way to prioritize your HVAs each day is to simply create a list of your “Big Three.” Write down the three tasks that are going to move you closer to your project and business goals, focus on completing those three (3) tasks every day.

3. Delegate responsibilities effectively.

Never underestimate the importance of delegating effectively. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to qualified employees. How well you delegate is directly reflected in how empowered your employees feel, which strengthens their skills, their decision-making abilities, and their productivity.

4. Streamline processes:

Streamlining business processes helps eliminate redundancies and ensures optimal resources utilization. Regularly reviewing and improving your business processes, identifying inefficiencies, and eliminating redundant steps are all crucial to improve productivity.

5. Provide a positive work environment.

Create a supportive and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued and motivated. Employees’ happiness goes hand in hand. Studies show that happiness in the workplace increases productivity by 12%. When your employees are happy, they are more equipped and motivated to complete tasks efficiently and engage with others on the team.
